Georeferencing

Updated: 2026-05-06

To locate (georeference) the map, that is, specify where on the globe it is located, you can simply use a world file (with coordinates in UTM projection) that is exported from the same program where you produce the map image.

If you do not have access to this file, you can manually locate the map in MeOS. Select Adjust Map on the page Courses under Functions. The map image is displayed and two controls chosen by MeOS. Select these, one at a time, and click on the map to position the selected control as accurately as you can. You can position it several times to get it as correct as possible. Then select Save Georeferencing.
Hint
You can increase the text size on the first page in MeOS to get a larger zoom in if you have a map that is in low resolution and becomes so small that it is difficult to mark the controls.
You can also choose to import a new map image by importing new map.

Some issues regarding map import

2026-06-06 20:14:45 av Zemin Wu

I successfully exported PGW and PNG map files using OCAD2020 Viewer, then imported them into MeOS. Only a Close button appeared in the import pop-up window, and no further operations were available after closing it. When I clicked Adjust map, the error message Kontroller med koordinater saknas popped up. After double-clicking the route and clicked the Map option, the prompt Cannot locate the controls on the map showed up along with a blank window. I have no idea how to calibrate the map or use relevant map functions in MeOS.

I have read the official user manual but failed to resolve these issues. I would appreciate it greatly if any developers or colleagues could offer operational guidance.

I have the same result as the original poster.
I exported a png from Condes (10.8.15).

Gunnar and Zemin, I repeat that I am very interested in trying to improve the import. Please send in examples that do not work to software@melin.nu. If the map is confidential, it is OK to blur it or otherwise obfuscate it, as long as the dimensions (in pixels) remain the same.

I sent the email to software@melin.nu at 16:20 on June 10 (UTM). Have you received it? If not, I will resend it.
