WinOL is real-time orienteering software for
Windows. Orienteering is competitive
cross-country navigation using a map and compass.
The goal is to find all the controls, in the
shortest time possible. The winner is the
competitor who completes the course in the
shortest time. In the Shareware version, there
are two maps and an (almost) unlimited number of
courses. You can use the already existing
courses, set new courses, or let the computer
randomly generate courses. When you have
finished, you can use the powerful Result
Analyser to compare your result with others. You
can also see exactly where you have been on the
map. If you find it to easy to practise
orienteering in daylight, you may want to try
night orienteering or perhaps orienteering in
fog... |
If you still
have WinOL 1.0 or 1.01, you can upgrade to WinOL
1.50 free of cost.
WinOL 1.50
supports larger "Landscape Window" than
earlier version. You can now also compete in fullscreen
mode.
If you have a
slow connection to the Internet, you may chose to
download a reduced version without sound effects
There is a new
version of MapEdit available. Registered users
can download it for free.
